Tropical Depression Five Forms

The NHC is now issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Five in the Gulf about 160 miles south of Mobile.

Top wnds are 35 mph. Central pressure is 1007 mb.

The system is disorganized with an exposed center. It is undergoing some wind shear and is entraining dry air. Still, the system is forecast to intensify to a tropical storm. The GFDL even calls for it to become a hurricane before landfall.

Landfal will occur on the western Louisiana or Upper Texas Coast, likely on early Tuesday morning.

Tropical storm warnings are hoisted along the Texas and Louisiana coasts.
