There has been a slight decrease in the overall intensity of storms in the last 20 minutes or so, but th storms continue to roll along in the heat of an early August afternoon.

At this time, warnings still in effect for Cherokee, Etowah, Calhoun, Blount, Jefferson, and Walker as best I can tell. Most of these expire in the next 30 minutes and I’m certain some will be continued.

The main action is between Gadsden and Piedmont and over much of Walker and Blount counties.

Storms continue to move southward at around 15 mph.

Lightning is intense with these storms and hail up to about one inch has been reported with some reports of hail to golf ball size. Also these storms are dumping large amounts on rain on small areas which could easily overcome small streams and creeks and flood roadways. If traveling or planning travel, be very careful on the road.
