Heat Cranking Up

Most of the showers in Alabama yesterday were well south of the Birmingham area. In fact, it looked like the echoes stayed south of US 80. And while a boundary lingers around Montgomery, it looks like today will see a pretty close duplicate of yesterday with showers remaining south of Montgomery and over the Gulf Coast area. That due in part to the presence of a weak upper disturbance expected to be situation over the extreme northeast Gulf in the Big Bend Area of Florida. I alway hate to add that old summertime caveat, but an isolated shower is a possibility.

I think soil moisture helped to keep the highs down a bit yesterday but we saw some pretty good evaporation, so I expect to see the afternoon highs climb today. In fact, we’ll be in the middle and upper 90s over the next several days.

That weak disturbance in the Gulf is forecast to migrate west along the Gulf Coast keeping things somewhat wet for beach goers. It will be showery so any plans for the beach over the next few days should not be completely washed out.

The 594 height contour noses into the Southeast Monday and Tuesday. The development of a trough coming out of Central Canada at mid-week helps to deflate that feature and nudge it back west. But I think Wednesday and Thursday could still be pretty warm.

That deepening trough over the eastern half of the country should bring a front into or close to the Tennessee Valley by next weekend which promises increased rain chances and a drop in temperatures.

Tropics remain relatively quiet. There is an area of disturbed weather about 1400 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. It is moving over warmer water so some slow development of that system seems likely over the next several days. Developing where it is makes this a pretty good candidate for recurvature into the Central Atlantic over the next week.

Wow, what a week this has been. I’ve been working diligently to update the web page for my church and much of that effort is now behind me. Got a few errands to run today, but probably going to do my best to stay inside. Looking forward to working for Jason next week and heading back up to Cheaha State Park in the travel trailer. Thanks for tuning into the Weather Xtreme Video today. I hope that you have a great weekend. God bless.
