Strange Hail Sizes

| June 20, 2008 @ 9:49 am | 3 Replies

The Storm Prediction Center received 209 reports of hail yesterday in Mid-America. Among the reports was hail stones the size of “cherries” near Pueblo, Colo. I have never seen that before.

Back when I was in the USWB/NWS, I did see a report come over our national severe weather teletype circuit one night of hail the size of “chigger eggs.” Don’t think such a thing exists. Even if it did, you would need a strong magnifying glass.
