Is Mother Nature Angry With Us?
Have you ever seen Mother Nature throw as many curve balls at the USA as she has in the last few years and especially this year? There are all kinds of weather problems around the country. Just to name a few:
1. Vicious wildfires in the West. As of yesterday, 20,000 acres had been burned over near Vera Cruz, California. In the last year or so, there have been major rangeland wildfires in North Texas and Western Oklahoma where strong south winds can cause the fire to zoom through prairie grasslands extremely fast. A lot of homes were burned in the Texas Panhandle a couple of years ago.
2. Excessive rain this year in the Central Plains. Many places in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and other places have a huge rain excess for this year.
3. Tornadoes. A record number of tornadoes this year. Also, more fatalities this year than in a long time. The Midwest and Northern Plains have been especially hard hit. Often, some of the worst tornadoes can come plowing through in the middle of the night. The latest tragedy was the Boy Scout camp experiencing severe damage a few nights ago with 4 Boy Scouts killed and about 40 injured.
4. Historic flooding in the Midwest. Iowa is the only example you need.
Let’s hope and pray that Mother Nature will pause and reflect and be nicer to the good old USA for the rest of 2008. We could use a break. –J. B. Elliott
