Possible Tornado Tragedy
KETV in Omaha is reporting at least four deaths and 30 to 40 injuries due to a tornado at a Boy Scout ranch in Southwest Iowa, near the community of Little Sioux (Little Sioux Scout Ranch).
Creighton University Hospital in Omaha has been put on standby for triage duty at their ER.

About 100 campers were said to be at the camp when the storm hit. Authorities said the scene is chaotic and asked residents and parents to stay away from the camp and allow rescuers to work. Little Sioux Scout Camp is just north of Council Bluffs and the apparent tornado struck about 7 p.m. Courtney Greene, the spokeswoman for Iowa Gov. Chet Culver, said that authorities have been told of multiple injuries and the potential loss of life. Parents with children at the camp can call 402-431-9272 for more information.

The Little Sioux Scout Ranch is approximately one hour north of Omaha, Nebraska in Iowa’s Loess Hills. The 1,800 acre ranch is approximately 15 minutes east of Interstate 29 off the Little Sioux exit (#95). Six hiking trails through narrow valleys and over steep hills offer a myriad of views of this pristine, heavily timbered ranch.
Campers have a choice of several mowed meadows, with nearby frost-free water hydrants and latrines or several remote campsites. Four cabin shelters are also available year-round to camping groups. A 15-acre lake is available for boating and fishing.
