Showers and increasing over Northwest and West Alabama this morning. The showers and light to moderate in intensity now.

The cover parts of Marion, Limestone, Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Marion and Lamar Counties.

A few other showers are over Etowah and Blount Counties.

The activity will continue to increase as a trough approaches Alabama and a cold front drops into the state later today.

Temperatures are in the 60s and dewpoints are in the 50s, so instability is low. But with some sunshine, temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to near 70. Storms that form this afternoon could have some hail and gusty winds as well as heavy rain and lightning, so keep an eye to the sky if you will be playing outside.
