Last Frost Until Autumn?

Possibly…..
Could be…..
Most Likely…..

Normally, in winter, we would pay little or no attention to this morning’s low temperatures and we would probably not post a list like this. But since it is so very late, and there are frost concerns, here we go. See some extra notes at the end.

27 Muscadine, Hamilton
29 Black Creek
30 Coker, Bear Creek, McCalla
31 Munford, Remlap, Ingramtown (Hale County)
32 Decatur, Fort Payne Airport, Pinson, Concord/Hueytown
33 Crossville, Noccalula Falls
34 Meridianville, Muscle Shoals, Cullman, Evergreen, Muscle Shoals, Troy, Moody, Alabaster/Navajo Pines
35 Scottsboro, Anniston, Tuscaloosa
36 Vinemont, Montgomery, Selma
37 Albertville, Bankhead National Forest, Huntsville, Auburn
38 Birmingham Airport
39 Shelby County Airport, Mobile Regional Airport
41 SE Trussville (on a ridge) Dothan
43 Mobile/Brookley Field

* Both Hamilton and Muscadine report heavy frost with lows of 27. It was 26 in Hamilton yesterday morning. The Muscadine temperature was freezing or lower for at least 6 hours.

* Huge temperature inversion this morning–one of the most pronounced in a long, long time. Vic Bell, our Black Creek/Scrougeout Skywatcher points out that at the same time he had 29 degrees, the Gadsden Skycam had 51 and they are only 15 miles apart. Noccalula Falls had 33 while the Gadsden Skycam had that 51 and those two places are only 3 miles apart! A similar story between Anniston Airport with 35 and around 50 atop Mt. Cheaha at the same time. They are about 10 air miles apart.

Just another little thing that makes weather interesting and makes forecasters scratch their hair out.
