…SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ALERT FOR PATCHY FREEZING DRIZZLE THROUGH
10 AM…
PATCHY FREEZING DRIZZLE IS POSSIBLE THROUGH LATE THIS MORNING
ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU INCLUDING
LOOKOUT AND SAND MOUNTAINS. DURING THE PAST COUPLE OF
HOURS…FREEZING LEVELS HAVE DROPPED TO 1200 FEET…WHICH NOW
INCLUDES CROSSVILLE…DE SOTO STATE PARK…AND PORTIONS OF SAND
MOUNTAIN. EARLIER…ICY BRIDGES WERE REPORTED IN SEWANEE TENNESSEE
WHICH SITS AT AN ELEVATION JUST UNDER 2000 FEET. THE DEEPER
VALLEYS REMAIN WELL ABOVE FREEZING…INCLUDING FORT PAYNE AND
AREAS ALONG INTERSTATE 59 AND HIGHWAY 72.
ALTHOUGH GROUND TEMPERATURES REMAIN RATHER WARM…MOTORISTS SHOULD
USE EXTRA CAUTION…PARTICULARLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES IN
THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS AFFECTED.
