Just to Cool You Off

At 11 am, EDT, the temperature on Mt. Washington, New Hampshire was 9 below zero. Visibility 1/16th mile in blowing snow (near whiteout conditions) Wind was west averaging 107 mph with gusts to 119 mph. The wind chill was 50 below.

The low in Nuiqsuit and good ole Deadhorse, Alaska this morning was 42 below and the wind chill in Deadhorse was 68 below.

Caribou, in North Maine, received 11 more inches of snow yesterday and they now have 34 inches on the ground. They have received 37 inches in the last three weeks. Caribou has received 183 inches so far this season (and the season is not over) That is 83 inches more than the average amount by March 21. Last year, by March 21, they had received “only” 77 inches.

Chicago has received 53 inches of snow so far. Last year at this time, 33 inches. As much as 8 to 12 inches of new snow was forecast today near the Wisconsin-Illinois border.

During the super, giant, grandfather, great-grandfather of all cold waves in February 1899, the sea level pressure built to an incredible 31.42 inches at Swift Current, Saskatchewan!
