Concern Increasing Over Tomorrow Night…

Concern is increasing about the threat of tornadoes and damaging winds tomorrow night over Alabama. Conferences with the National Weather Service this afternoon indicate that meteorologists there are growing increasingly worried that instability levels and wind shear will be certainly high enough to produce significant severe weather across the area Monday night.

First, long lived supercells could track into Alabama from Mississippi during the evening hours, starting about 8-10 p.m. These could be tornadic. Then, a powerful line of storms will enter West Alabama about midnight and reach I-65 around 3 a.m. This powerful squall line will be capable for very high and damaging winds as well as tornadoes.

It is likely that areas west of Alabama could see an upgrade to a high risk by late tonight. We could very well be iupgraded to a moderate risk outlook.

It is critical that you be able to hear warnings tomorrow night. Check batteries in your westheradio and make sure it will be programmed correctly and turned on before you retire tomorrow night.

It will be a very long night for everyone involved. Let’s make sure we are ready.
