Storms Weaker, No Warnings Now

| November 22, 2011 @ 3:37 pm | Reply

All warnings across Alabama have expired now.

Two lines of storms across Central Alabama now.

One extends from Birmingham to Centreville to Marion. The strongest storms are in Perry County. They could become severe as they push toward Chilton County.

A good bit of lightning is about to move into the Birmingham metro. There almost appears to be a little comma head feature with those storms, but it is weakening. Gusty winds will be associated with this and rainfall has been heavy in the Birmingham area already

John Talbot reports there is a major accident on the Bankhead Highway in front of the Birmingham Water Works. Multiple cars involved with injuries and a fatality. One person trapped. So please be careful if you are out and about in this bad weather.

The other extends from near Bowden GA to near Wedowee to Wadley to east of New Site to Red Hill to Montgomery.

Everything is moving east northeast at 30 mph.

Heavy rains, gusty winds and dangerous lightning will be the main impacts. The best chance for severe weather is south of a line from Centerville to Clanton to Ashland. North of that line, the severe weather threat has diminished.

A tornado watch does remain in effect for West Central Alabama until 5 p.m.
