Tornado On The Ground in Western Mississippi

| September 25, 2011 @ 8:27 pm | 3 Replies

LATE REPORT AT 8:31…NWS Jackson reports substantial damage in the Stanton subdivision northwest of Cleveland.

The NWS Jackson reports spotters indicate a tornado is on the ground just west of Cleveland MS.

It is heading in the general direction of Greenwood.

These storms are moving east southeast. They should weaken as they continue toward West Central Alabama. General thunderstorms will affect areas north of Lamar County but should remain below severe limits for the most part.

Storms that reach areas south of a line from Carrollton to Centreville to Clanton could remain stronger and have a better chance of being severe, although they will weaken as well. The tornado threat will diminish before the storms get into Alabama.

We will monitor them.
