Too Much Water

Thanks to Heather Hall for these images… she writes…

“Hello James,

I have written to you several times, but from a different email account. This is Heather Hall from Parrish, AL.

My hometown is in Pennsylvania. Danville, PA. They are going through some terrible flooding at the moment. They dealt with some of the water from Irene…but, this latest is from Lee….they are in the part of Central PA, where the strorms trained. The town is on the Susquehannah River. And this is the worst flooding there since Hurricane Agnes in 1972. After, 1972 almost all the river towns along the Susquehanah built dikes and walls to protect against the flooding, but the river is still managing to do a lot of damage. It will be cresting sometime Friday morning. It will crest 10 feet or more OVER flood stage.

The city of Hershey is about completely cut off. The ZooAmerica (at Hershey Park) is so flooded that they had to shoot a few of the animals, because the couldn’t save them, and they could no longer swim…unfortunately those were Bison/Buffaloes.

It is really bad up there.

Anyway, here are some of the pictures from Danville. I am sure that the pictures I see tomorrow will be even worse. What’s bad is that most of these pictures are of homes and businesses that are approx 1/2 mile from the river, and up hill from the river, so as you can see, the river is very angry!”
