Neighbors In Need – Update

| August 30, 2011 @ 9:15 am | 2 Replies

Blog readers are aware of our “adopted” family in Walker County near Cordova. Gary and Heather Adams, and their 9 children, were left homeless after the April 27 tornado outbreak. I met them a few days after the storm, and am honored to play a small part in getting them a new home.

If you missed the first post about this project, see this video, which was originally sent to ABC’s “Extreme Home Makeover” show. They are not in production now, so we decided to get rolling.

The volunteer building contractor is Wayne O’Rear of Jasper, who has spent so many hours helping to get the foundation and trusses up in recent weeks. See photos below of the progress…

Here is what we need to complete the house…

To do list:

Insulation
Vinyl Siding
HVAC
Electrical
Cabinets and Shelving
Paint
Tile Material
Laminate Flooring
Plumbing

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Spread the word. Your church, business, family can get involved to make this special miracle happen for some of our neighbors in need. We need money and supplies now.

WHO TO CONTACT: Lori Abercrombie with the Mission of Hope in Dora is coordinating donations. You can contact Lori via email: lori9601@yahoo.com

HOW TO DONATE: If you would like to send a check, mail to P.O. Box 878 Dora Al 35062. Make the check to the Mission of Hope, and mark it Adams House Project. Donations are tax deductible.

Thanks in advance for your support and compassion!
