All Time Record High in Arkansas

The amazing heat continues across the South. Look at these maximum temperatures from today. They are taken from the hourly observations, so the final results could be off a degree here and there.

When I saw the 114F at Little Rock, I immediately thought that might be an all time record high. And it was!

…RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT LITTLE ROCK ADAMS FIELD…

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 114 DEGREES WAS SET AT LITTLE ROCK
ADAMS FIELD TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 107 SET IN 2010.
THIS ALSO BREAKS THE ALL TIME RECORD HIGH OF 112 DEGREES SET ON JULY
31ST 1986.

It was 115F in Fort Smith! The all time state record in Arkansas is 120F.

Some other notably hot temperatures from today:

OKLAHOMA
109F at Oklahoma City
112F at Lawton
114F at Tulsa (Jones)…It was 113 at Tulsa International

TEXAS
109F at DFW (all time record high is 113F)
111F at Dallas-Love
111F at Texarkana
112F at Fort Worth-Alliance

The morning low at Wichita Falls was 87F!

DALLAS STREAK ROLLS ON: Dallas is currently in the middle of their second longest 100F+ streak ever. They currently stand at 32 days. Their previous second longest streak was 29 days set back in 1998. The longest run of century mark plus temperatures in the Big D is 42 in 1980 during that legendary heat wave. The prospects of breaking the streak don’t look good over the next ten days, and they could threaten the 1980 mark. (I bet Kevin Selle is extra cranky tonight)

LOUISIANA
109F at Shreveport

TENNESSEE
106F at Memphis
