A Few Storms Continue

A southward moving band of showers and storms continues this afternoon across parts of Tuscaloosa, Shelby, southern Talladega and Coosa Counties. Heavy rain and sharp lightning is accompanying the stronger cells.

Paula W reports power out in parts of Columbiana with an inch of rain in her gauge from a heavy storm in that area.

Additional storms have developed over West Alabama’s Lamar, southern Marion and Walker Counties, from northeast of Vernon to east of Winfield and on to just east of Carbon Hill.

There is an isolated strong storm on the Georgia/Alabama border in Chambers County north of Lanett.

Some of the heaviest rainfall so far this afternoon has been from Holt (northeast of Tuscaloosa) to north of West Blocton, where upwards of an inch has fallen in spots. Some other 1 inch amounts may have occurred northeast of Millport in Lamar County.
