**No afternoon edition of the Weather Xtreme video today….. we will get back to the two a day schedule Monday**

RIGHT NOW: Looks like the radar has a case of the measles…

These scattered showers will fade this evening as the sun goes down.

OUR WEEKEND: The GFS is suggesting that we will see a better coverage of scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms tomorrow and Sunday, while the NAM is as little drier. One way or another, we will stick with the standard summer forecast through Sunday with partly sunny, hot, humid days and the risk of scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Highs will remain in the low to mid 90s.

NEXT WEEK: Same idea… the GFS shows a hotter and drier look Tuesday through Thursday, with highs in the mid to upper 90s along with fewer showers and storms. See the morning Weather Xtreme video for the details.

DON APPROACHING THE TEXAS COAST: Tropical Storm Don is packing sustained winds of 50 mph, and will move into the lower Texas coast tonight around South Padre Island. This will bring beneficial rain to far South Texas over the weekend, but it won’t help the northern half of the state very much.

EMILY? Invest AL91 in the Atlantic is expected to become Tropical Storm Emily within the next 24 hours… then reaching hurricane strength over the weekend. Here is a look at the model output on this storm…

Remains to be seen if this system will recurve into the Atlantic, or make a run at the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida peninsula, or the east coast the U.S. Stay tuned… a number of the intensity models bring this one up to major hurricane status in 96 hours.

GULF COAST WEEKEND: About 6 to 8 hours of sunshine for the coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores with a few scattered showers and storms; highs close to 90 on the immediate coast, and the water temperatures remain in the mid to upper 80s.
