Wild Ride in Michigan

No, I don’t mean a car chase or anything quite that dangerous, but how about a fabulous, exhilarating, fast, heart-stopping, twisting ride on Lake Superior?

Riptide Rides, Munising, MI

That is exactly what you get on the Riptide Ride at Munising, MI, on Lake Superior. The wonderful boat, a model used by the Navy Seals, and Captain Tim (not Dr. Coleman) along with his whole family operate Riptide Rides which include either a longer narrated tour of the Grand Island area immediately off Munising or the shorter, about 30 minutes, of speed and daring on the water.

There are, of course, other boat excursions which include some great views of a few of the many shipwrecks in Lake Superior. But for a pure adrenalin rush, there is nothing like Riptide Rides that I have ever been on.

Should any of your travels take you within a 100 miles of Munising, you owe it to yourself to partake of an adventurous sojourn with Captain Tim and his first mate, their son, after buying your tickets from Jonie, torn by one of their two daughters, Rachel or Megan.

And if you want to top off the wild ride with a local favorite at the UP’s number one pasties shop, be sure to grab a chicken, veggie, or beef pastie at Muldoon’s, less than a block from Riptide Rides.

PS A pastie is a sumptuous and hearty meat pie with vegetables all built into it.
