Afternoon Look at Central Alabama Weather

| July 24, 2011 @ 2:19 pm | 1 Reply

A moist airmass covers Central Alabama this afternoon.  Clouds have been pretty thick in some areas as a result. A quick review of the visible satellite and the skycams shows more sun east and west, with clouds hanging tough in the middle for the most part.

Radar shows increasing showers, mainly across West central Alabama. The activity is pushing eastward. The cells don’t contain a lot of lightning, although a thunderstorm was reported at Tuscaloosa on the last observation.

Temperatures are in the 80s and should top out mainly in the upper 80s in areas that haven’t seen showers.

Showers and storms will be fairly widespread tomorrow, then thin a bit on Tuesday and become widely scattered each afternoon through the remainder of the week. The hot and humid conditions will continue.
