…WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WATCH…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING.

RAIN IS EXPECTED TO BECOME MIXED WITH OR CHANGE OVER TO SNOW ALONG
AND SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 85 CORRIDOR AROUND SUNRISE SATURDAY…
LASTING INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

WHILE THE HEAVIEST SNOW ACCUMULATION IS CURRENTLY EXPECTED TO BE
NORTH OF THE CITIES OF SELMA…MONTGOMERY…AND AUBURN…THERE IS
A CHANCE THAT THIS HEAVY SNOW AXIS COULD SET UP FARTHER SOUTH.
THEREFORE…A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THESE AREAS.
IF THE HEAVIER SNOW DOES END UP BEING FARTHER SOUTH…THESE CITIES
COULD GET 2 INCHES OF SNOW OR MORE.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW…SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE
TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING.

WINTRY PRECIPITATION…PREDOMINATELY SNOW…IS EXPECTED TO FALL
ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL ALABAMA BEGINNING AFTER MIDNIGHT FRIDAY
NIGHT LASTING INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON SATURDAY. ACCUMULATIONS
OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE. BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS…THE
AREA MOST LIKELY TO SEE THE GREATEST SNOW ACCUMULATION IS IN A BAND
ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF THE STATE BETWEEN INTERSTATE 20 AND US ROUTE
80. LESSER AMOUNTS OF SNOW…ROUGHLY 1 TO 2 INCHES…IS FORECAST
JUST NORTH AND JUST SOUTH OF THIS BAND.

THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY IN THIS FORECAST…AS THE
LOCATION OF THE HEAVIEST SNOW AND SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE STILL
SUBJECT TO CHANGE. STAY ADVISED AS WE WILL LIKELY BE UPDATING AND
AND REVISING THE FORECAST AS THE EVENT DEVELOPS.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW…SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING.

WINTRY PRECIPITATION…PREDOMINATELY SNOW…IS EXPECTED TO FALL
ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL ALABAMA BEGINNING AFTER MIDNIGHT
FRIDAY NIGHT LASTING INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON SATURDAY.

AT THIS TIME…IT APPEARS THAT THE BAND OF HEAVIEST SNOW WILL BE
SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 20. HOWEVER…THERE IS CHANCE THAT DEEP
MOISTURE COULD GET FARTHER NORTH THAN CURRENTLY FORECAST…
RESULTING IN ACCUMULATING SNOW ALSO GETTING FARTHER NORTH.
THEREFORE…THE WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR CITIES
SUCH AS VERNON…FAYETTE…JASPER…ONEONTA…GADSDEN…AND
CENTRE. IF THE THREAT OF HEAVY SNOW GOES AWAY COMPLETELY…THEN
THE WINTER STORM WATCH MAY BE CANCELED FOR THESE CITIES…OR IT
MAY LEAD INTO A SNOW ADVISORY RATHER THAN A HEAVY SNOW WARNING.

ALTHOUGH THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY IN THIS FORECAST IT
LOOKS INCREASINGLY LIKELY THAT SOME SNOW WILL FALL ACROSS CENTRAL
ALABAMA. STAY ADVISED AS WE WILL LIKELY BE UPDATING AND REVISING
THE FORECAST AS THE EVENT DEVELOPS.

SNOW…SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
