Late Morning in Alabama

First, don’t let the sunshine give the impression that the winter weather is less likely. Arctic air is already slowly spreading southward and it was in the cold 30s across the Extreme North and NW part of the state.

In response to numerous questions, we don’t see any reason to make major changes to our posted expectations about the snow. It is possible, however, that the band of heavier snow may be depressed a bit further south. Not sealed in concrete yet.

NWS continues the Winter Storm Watch (see map below)

Morning model data from the NAM, seemed to pull the main moisture field a little more to the south and the GFS looked a bit more favorable for snow.

The precipitation may linger later into the day on Saturday than we first thought.

We are chewing on much, much raw data and we will have the afternoon edition finished by around 2:30.Watch the afternoon video discussion also around 3 pm.
