A Note of (Many, Many) Molly Thanks
I can’t say “thank you” enough to hundreds of people who have sent us notes of thanks (and encouragement!) about the untimely (very untimely!) death of Little Miss Molly) That poor little girl had to miss the entire last half of her life because of a mean (very mean) dog in the area.
As I have mentioned a number of times, I am a strong person (mentally and emotionally) but this tragedy has thrown me for a setback. I MUST get over it and a great help has been the hundreds of best wishes notes from our Tiny Corner of the World readers, dozens of other neighbors, friends, family and you name it. We got at least 30 telephone calls yesterday and numerous emails and Facebook notes, Good friends is a “top of the list” blessing anyone NEEDS to have and we have dozens and dozens of those!
Since Molly was killed in that brutal attack we have received not less than 600 emails and Facebook notes of encouragement. When I went to bed last night (with no late, late ball game with Molly) the emails were still popping in at the rate of about 50 per hour. I will save all of those for my Molly scrapbook and will acknowledge as many as possible. Many of those have urged me to not wait TOO long before getting a new dog and many suggested “rescue” dogs. I agree,
The last 24 hours has been tough. No Molly toys scattered all over the house, placed in “planned” locations to where she could grab one and set off a big game.
Often, when Molly would sleep all night at the foot of my king-size bed, when I would wake up, she would slowly walk up my body and rest on my chest with that little tail swishing and thumping and often pressing her little moist nose against my cheek! I lost it for a few minutes last night. When I went to bed, I discovered one of her treats hidden under my pillow. She hid some of those at different places. She must have been watching the “all news” cable channels who tell us all the time that “hard times” are ahead.
Another thing that will stick with me is that Molly’s death could have been prevented if I had followed her wishes. In the heat of the afternoon, she preferred to walk on the south half of the community track which is mostly shaded and she has additional friends there. But I was in a hurry and insisted on the north track. That will bother me. JoJo lives nearby to the north track.
I will get over this ASAP. That is one reason that I notified James yesterday that I would return to full weather duty today. I will also keep writing “My Tiny Corner of the World.” There MUST be a book of Molly memories in the future! Thanks again for your encouragement. The MO (Majority Owner) also! Life MUST go onI
