Expecting A Bad Day in the Plains

The Storm Prediction Center has upped the ante on the severe weather threat in Oklahoma for this afternoon. No storms are in progress yet, but a dry line west of I-35 will be the focus for convection between 3 and 5 PM today. SPC has a 45-percent “hatched” area for tornadoes in Oklahoma today:

SPC Tornado Probabilities for Today/Tonight

This is the same kind of probability that we had in the April 27th outbreak. The National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma is asking people to avoid commuting on I-35 this afternoon in Central Oklahoma.

Again, this is all way out to our west, but it is a significant weather event, so we will post occasional updates for folks interested in keeping up with the situation.
