Mississippi Storms to Affect West Alabama

Strong to severe storms are approaching Meridian MS at this hour and they have been turning more northeastward.

This means they will impact parts of West Central Alabama over the next few hours.

The Jackson radar now shows storms lined up from just south of Philadelphia MS to near Laurel the southward along I-59 to near Slidell in Louisiana.

These storms will begin to affect Sumter, Choctaw, and Washington Counties in Alabama in the next 90 minutes.

Folks in Greene, Hale and Marengo Counties will experience them between 8:30 and 9 a.m.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are up for Newton, Jasper and Jones Counties in eastern Mississippi. There had been tornado warnings for some counties in South Central Mississippi with these storms an hour or so ago.

Over Northwest Alabama, weakening showers and storms are over Franklin, Colbert and Lauderdale Counties.
