Alabama Before the Crack of Dawn

Compared to what unfolded during the night, the weather is calm and collected very, very early on this Thursday morning. Just a small cluster of showers moving due east across the center of the state.

Not so fast. There is more.

A large cluster of showers and thunderstorms covering much of Arkansas. Loaded with heavy rain and an overdose of lightning. Moving east.

That is why the NWS is hanging onto the Flash Flood Watch Watch through this evening. Sure will not take a great deal of additional rain to cause some more flash flooding. Good chance of thunderstorms today.

The good news is that we still believe Easter Sunday will be nice. A bit too warm and humid, mind you, but mostly sunshine and only small risk of a shower. High in the 80s.

Were you frightened by last night’s weather? That was one of the most scary looking line of thunderstorms I have seen in a long, long time. No telling how many trees were uprooted and it seemed like zillions of lightning strikes. And flash-flooding. Daylight will reveal a lot.
