Storms Still Pack A Punch
LATE NOTE: The stronger storms have edged out of southern Jefferson County, and the warning has been canceled for southern Jefferson County.
Severe thunderstorm warning continues until 10:30 a.m. for eastern Bibb, southern Jefferson, much of Shelby and parts of Chilton County.
Tuscaloosa County has been cleared from the warning.
Doppler indicated wind speeds have dropped a bit, but the storms still could produce damaging wind gusts.
The worst now is over southern Jefferson and northern Shelby Counties around the Hoover Met and Helena. The main impact will come across Hoover, Riverchase, Pelham and Alabaster moving over toward Acton Road, and Highway 280 from the Colonnade/Summit south through Inverness and Meadowbrook toward Chelsea.
Strong gusty winds, heavy rain and lightning will impact areas from Calera through Montevallo into Chilton County.
There could also be some hail. Hail was just reported at Helena…size unknown.
