Beautiful Weekend Weather

After a wild weather Friday, the weather has settled down this morning and we’re poised to have absolutely gorgeous weather for the weekend. Be sure to scroll down the posts to see images from the storms yesterday. We also need to keep the victims of yesterdays storms in our thoughts and prayers. Alabama suffered at least 4 tornado related deaths yesterday.
Today with lowered humidity and cooler air, it will be a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors. And the wonderful weather will continue into Sunday. As the upper flow goes zonal, we’ll see a warm up for the first few days of the upcoming week.
The westerly flow pattern and ridge will keep the next major trough well to our north Wednesday. However, the pattern favors dragging the front into the area Thursday where it will stick around to become a focus for scattered showers for the latter part of the week and into next weekend. Temperatures will warm up into the 80s once again but I don’t foresee any records – just warm.
Rainfall is likely to be spotty with the showery nature of the rain.
Looking further afield, the GFS suggests another strong system around the 27th of April with another cool down at the end of the month. May first could be a warm one if the GFS is correct on the strength of the upper ridge, but remember this is all voodoo.

Thanks for staying tuned to the Weather Xtreme Video. And thanks, too, for all the reports on severe weather yesterday. Those reports are a tremendous help to meteorologists charged with issuing the warnings because it provides ground truth that can only be gotten from eyes on the ground.
I had a great set of meetings Thursday with other local meteorologists as we crank up the planning for the National Weather Association national conference to be held in Birmingham October 15 through 20. Enjoy the weekend and Godspeed.
