Tornado Watch for Southwest Alabama

| March 5, 2011 @ 9:18 am | 3 Replies

A tornado watch has been issued for southern Louisiana, southern Mississippi and southwestern Alabama. It goes until 4 p.m. CST.

We already have tornado warnings east of Lake Charles.

This activity will spread eastward and intensify through the day with a moderate potential for tornadoes from any supercells that form.

Here are the current warnings, watchesii, slight risk area and instability values.

The bulk of the severe weather this afternoon and evening will be south of a line from Butler to Marion to Clanton to Wetumpka to Ozark, but we could see a couple of warnings up into the I-20 corridor this afternoon and then especially as the main squall line moves through this evening.
