It’s a chilly early morning across central Alabama. Light easterly winds are trying to keep things stirred up a little in some places, but winds are staying light or calm in most spots due to the stable temperature inversion in place (see curent temperature profile from UAH Radiometer at 0812 UTC). Notice it’s 45 at the surface, but above 50 from 1,000 feet altitude up to 2,500 feet. To tell you how sharp the temperature inversion is…we have thermometers at 2 meters and 10 meters above the ground. Earlier this evening, it was as much as 4 degrees warmer at 10 m than at 2 m.
