Snow continues to increase over Alabama tonight.

Snow is becoming heavv across much of Lamar, Fayette, northern Pickens, northern Tuscaloosa, Marion and Walker Counties. Snow was also becoming heavier over western Jefferson County in places like Graysville and Adamsville.

John Oldshue reports moderate to heavy snow in Tuscaloosa now. Ron Hughes reported elevated surfaces becoming white.

37F in Tuscaloosa…38F in Birmingham…43F at Calera.

Northwest of Hamilton near the Mississippi border, we have a report of 1.2 inches of snow on the ground now. Has been snowing for 3 hours.

Looks like sleet now on radar over southern Perry and northern Dallas Counties in South Central Alabama.

A general 1 to 3 inch snow is expected to accumulate across the Central Alabama of Alabama tonight north of line from Thomasville to Prattville to Opelika.

Northwest of a line from Sulligent to Winfield to Moulton, there could be more than 3 inches overnight. 1/2 inch of snow on ground in Vernon. The ground is white now in Hamilton. Some spots will get more. Snow will last about 4 hours.

Roads will become snow covered as the snow becomes heavier. Roads will be wet initially, but as they become snow packed, travel problems will ensue. Take this into account if we have to go somewhere. Best to get it done early and stay in place overnight.

The sun will come out early on Thursday and should help to start melting the snow by midmorning.
