Rain Exiting Stage Right, Cooler Air Entering Stage Left

Rain and thunderstorms continue over the southeastern half of Alabama this morning generally south of a line from Anniston to Montgomery to Evergreen.

The flash flood watches have expired.   Most of the northern third of the state picked up 1..5 to 3 inches of rain during the past 36 hours. I am sure there will be some 4 inch amounts reported.

A tornado watch continues for South Alabama and Northwest Florida.  Counties near Montgomery were just cleared from the watch.

The cold front is generally along I-59.  Cooler air is spilling in behind the front, with 50s common over the northwestern half of the state.  It was still 63F at Birmingham,  but the mercury should start to fall shortly. Lows by morning will be in the 30s.

Some clearing is working its way across Mississippi and we will see some sun over western sections of Alabama before the afternoon is out. It may be tomorrow before completely clear skies return. We will be in the 50s tomorrow.
