Roads are icy in spots this morning across Central Alabama.

Things are better in west Alabama, where snowfall has been light.

Snow showers overnight have coated roads in some spots again, especially in  the Birmingham area.  Parts of I-65 are closed right now in the Birmingham area.  Bridges in many spots on I-59 are snow covered.

Emergency management in Etowah County warns that roads in the county are treacherous.

Blount County officials report that many roads have icy patches, especially bridges

Secondary roads will be slick when snow covered from the new snow showers.  Dug Hollow Road in Pinson is reported to be dangerous.

If you must drive this morning, slow down and be alert when you see icy patches.  Bridges and overpasses will be especially dangerous.

Light snow showers will continue through the morning. It will be windy also, with north winds averaging 12-22 mph and gusting at times to over 30 mph. Wind advisories are in effect. It will stay mostly cloudy today, with perhaps some breaks in the clouds late in the day.
