Saturday Afternoon Update
Under clear skies, temperatures are topping out in the 50s across the area. The nearest clouds were over some stratocumulus clouds Kentucky, extending into West Virginia, where some low level moisture was present. Temperatures tonight will fall to near or just below freezing under clear skies with calm winds.
Sunshine will prevail on Sunday, but clouds will arrive late in the day and skies will become cloudy overnight as our winds will shift around to the southeast. Temperatures will be moderating and will top out around 60 degrees in most spots Sunday afternoon.
Moisture levels will be on the increase on Monday as a strong low pressure system moves out of the Rockies. As the low moves northeast, it will draw Gulf moisture northward. Skies will be cloudy and you will notice a strong southerly wind with a high around 60F. We could see a shower by late afternoon and rain will become likely after midnight. Rain and thunderstorms will continue for much of the day on Tuesday. Severe weather is not expected. Highs on Tuesday will be around 60F again. A strong cold front will push through the area Tuesday night, ushering in colder and drier air. Most areas across Central Alabama will see a freeze by Wednesday morning.
