An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

COOL WEEKEND AHEAD: We begin this day with most places in the low to mid 40s, although Cullman has dropped to 39 degrees. A steady north wind continues now, and will be noticeable through the day. The high will be only in the low to mid 60s today despite maximum available sunshine. The dewpoint will drop down in the 27 to 31 degree range this afternoon; quite a contrast to the low 70s we saw earlier this week.

COLD NIGHT: The GFS is printing 38 degrees for Birmingham early tomorrow with a clear sky and light wind. We figure many neighborhoods will see frost on those Halloween pumpkins, with a freeze likely for the colder valleys and protected areas.

The weekend will be picture perfect with highs in the low 70s tomorrow and mid 70s Sunday. The humidity will remain very low.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: You will need a jacket for the high school games tonight. With a clear sky temperatures will fall quickly through the 50s, reaching the 40s by the final whistle. The annual Magic City Classic game at Legion Field tomorrow between Alabama State and Alabama A&M will have perfect weather with all sunshine and about 72 at kickoff. It should drop to the 60s late in the game. Auburn will be visiting Oxford for a late afternoon kickoff Saturday with Ole Miss with a kickoff at 5:00 p.m. It will be clear with near 70 at kickoff and about 55 in the fourth quarter. UAB will be in Hattiesburg to play Southern Miss at 11:00 a.m. It should be a peak temperature of about 76 during the game.

WELCOME RACE FANS: Glorious weather is the story for race weekend at Talledega; look for a cloudless sky tomorrow and Sunday with highs in the 71 to 74 degree range. Quite a contrast to the severe weather that plagued NASCAR fans at the Superspeedway back in April.

NEXT WEEK: Monday looks dry, and we will bring in a chance of showers Tuesday. Beyond that, model madness makes for a low confidence forecast. It all depends on the placement and intensity of an upper low that is expected to form west of Alabama… every model run has looked different in recent days. Watch the Weather Xtreme video for the latest.

SHARY IS ON THE BOARD: Tropical Storm Shary is a small storm that will pass close to Bermuda tonight; sustained winds are only 40 mph. It will become extra-tropical this weekend as it accelerates to the northeast over the open Atlantic.

The most interesting tropical system on the board is the large wave approaching the Windward Islands… this could become Tropical Storm Tomas in coming days. It will move through the Caribbean in a track that is usually favorable for entry into the Gulf of Mexico, but the mid-latitude westerlies are so far south this time of the year, that usually means that any tropical system approaching the U.S. will be picked up by a trough sooner or later and carried out to sea. We will see.
