Alabama’s New Tornado Alley?

| October 25, 2010 @ 3:42 am | 1 Reply

While not technically in the Birmingham viewing area, thought it notable that a potentially tornadic storm was coming through Alabama’s new Tornado Alley, that area from Arab, Boaz and Guntersville over to DeKalb County.

LATE REPORT FROM THE NWS HUNTSVILLE AT 3:55:
* AT 351 AM CDT…LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED A POSSIBLE TORNADO NEAR HOPEWELL…OR ABOUT 12 MILES NORTHEAST OF GUNTERSVILLE…MOVING EAST AT 50 MPH. AT 340 AM…MARSHALL COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED DAMAGE IN THE ARAB AREA…AND EXTENDING NORTHEAST ALONG A PATH TO SCANT CITY AND TO NORTH OF GUNTERSVILLE.

Something like four of six of the most recent significant tornadoes across North Alabama have hit DeKalb county.

Be alert if you are in the path of these storms and be in a place of safety as they approach.
