If you love weather, or even have just a casual interest, you will want to mark your calendars for Saturday, October 16th.

The University of Alabama – Huntsville Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society will put on the Rocket City Weather Fest on Saturday, October 16th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.. It will be held at the Shelby Center on the UAH Campus.

The weather festival will feature educational exhibits and demonstrations of atmospheric phenomena with an eye toward safety and preparedness. You will be able to learn about the variety of research going on at UAH in the atmospheric sciences. The National Weather Service will present a SKYWARN training session.

Sandy LaCorte, one of the organizers, wanted me to point out that they will have several other exhibits and booths at the event such as the American Red Cross, Sci-Quest’s Roaming Dome traveling planetarium, the National Weather Service, NASA, live HAM radio demonstrations, local tv station meteorologists (WHNT 19 and WAFF 48), and many activities!

Also, they will be there to answer questions if there are any students out there that are considering studying meteorology in college and would like to know more about what it takes to become a meteorologist!
