Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

We Could Use Some Rain

Only 0.05 inches at rain so far this month at the Birmingham Airport. This is 2.41 inches below normal.

The drought situation has worsened significantly over the past thirty days. Over that time frame, much of the area is between 25-50% below normal.

Even worse, over the past 14 days, rainfall across almost all of the area is running 75-100% below normal.

Severe drought conditions have now developed over parts of East Central Alabama’s Coosa, Elmore, Tallapoosa, Lee and Chambers Counties. Moderate drought has now overspread much of the eastern half of Central Alabama and abonormally dry conditions cover much of the state.

In terms of short term moisture needs for lawns and gardens, we’re all pretty much in severe need.

Unfortunately, there is no relief in sight through the next week and if you look out two weeks on the GFS, we may not have any significant rain through the period.
