Felix Before Coffee
Here is a quick look-see at aging Felix, now “only” a TD. In this story, TD does not stand for Touchdown, instead a Tropical Depression.
But a Tropical Depression can still cause big-time problems–some really, really big-time problems.
At 4 am, CDT, the center of Felix was very near Tegucigalpa, Honduras and moving slowly west at only 9 mph. That should continue today which is worrisome. It means he will have more time to produce big time flooding.
And that (his forward speed) is the main concern now because his highest sustained winds now a mere 30 mph.
Felix still has the potential to dump 6 to 10 inches of rain over North Nicaragua and El Salvador and 8 to 15 inches over most of Honduras, with as much as 25 inches in mountain areas.
Mind you, that is five inches more than Birmingham has received all this year!
Translation: Life threatening flash-floods and mudslide.
The National Hurricane Center has posted it’s last public advisory on Felix but we will still do a few updates as information becomes available.
Felix has been quite an interesting fellow.
Now, to the coffee pot.
