UPDATE FOR BRYANT DENNY STADIUM 2:30 PM
Showers will pass through the Tuscaloosa area between 4 and 5 p.m. this afternoon it now appears. NOt much lightning with these showers.

Then thunderstorms near Macon, MS will reach Tuscaloosa about 5 or 5:30 p.m. There is a good bit of lightning in this activity. My opinion is that we could see the start of the game delayed by lightning.

But then the good news…the activity to the west of that has weakened. It looks like there could be a break in the rain after the kickoff that could go through much of the Alabama/Penn State game. Keeping fingers crossed for those Alabama/Penn State fans. Elsewhere, if you need rain, and I know you do, I hope you get a good bit!

ORIGINAL POST
Just before 2 p.m., showers and storms extend from Marshall County southwestward through Cullman County in to Walker County then into northern Pickens County. The heaviest storms were…

…near Eva
…northeast of Baileyton
…in western Walker County around Carbon Hill and Eldridge
…in northern Pickens County near Macedonia

North of that’ other storms were over Marion County west of Guin and north of Hamilton.

In North Alabama…storms were in the Decatur/Huntsville area.

In Mississippi, heavy storms were over eastern Mississippi from Columbus to Philadelphia and from Tupelo to Fulton.

Everything is moving east at 20 mph.

Rain and storms will likely affect the Tuscaloosa area starting between 5 and 6 p.m. They will continue off and on through a good part of the game I am afraid. Hopefully they will go downhill after 6 p.m.
