High Noon in Alabama

| June 15, 2010 @ 11:56 am | 1 Reply

Showers and thunderstorms were developing quickly over North Alabama before noon and more numerous than they were at this same hour yesterday.

Yesterday’s storms were slow movers permitting big rain amounts over relatively small areas. Today, they are moving NE at a faster pace.

At noon, almost all of the showers and thunderstorms were from about Pickens, Tuscaloosa and Jefferson County northward to the Tennessee Valley. Some of the main storms:

…..Winston County approaching Double Springs. Downpours of rain with these and considerable lightning.

…..Smaller but heavy thunderstorm West Etowah County

…..Developing storms over West Jefferson and NE Jefferson. Thunder now heard from NE Trussville.

…..Heaviest rain of all appeared to be in connection with the Winston County storms.r
