Comfortable Night Ahead

DRY AIR IN PLACE: What a comfortable summer afternoon in Alabama. At 3:00… Birmingham was reporting 84 degrees with a dewpoint of only 59, making the relative humidity 42 percent. And, with the dry air in place, not a single shower is showing up on radar this afternoon. The dry air will mean a very comfortable night tonight; most communities will wind up in the low to mid 60s, but some of the cooler spots should be in the upper 50s at daybreak tomorrow. Very nice indeed.
REST OF THE WEEK: Tomorrow will stay dry, and the afternoon should be a little warmer with a high in the low 90s. Moist air begins to return Wednesday; we will mention a small risk of an afternoon storm by then, but we note the NAM is much more aggressive with the chance of storms Wednesday afternoon. Then, on Thursday and Friday, back to the summer routine with warm and humid days, a partly sunny, and the risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Looks like highs in the 89 to 92 degree range. A weak surface front will try to approach North Alabama Thursday, but it will stall and fizzle out by Friday.
WEEKEND PREVIEW: Not much chance over the weekend. Highs in the 89 to 92 degree range, with partly sunny days and the risk of a shower or storm each afternoon in scattered spots. Again, this is what we expect here in Alabama during the summer months.
TROPICAL LOOK: All is quiet across the vast Atlantic basin, and tropical storm formation is not expected through mid-week.
