Skies are partly cloudy across Central Alabama. Temperatures are warming through the middle and upper 80s at this hour. It is quite humid, with dewpoints between 70F-72F. This is making for a fairly unstable airmass over Alabama with CAPE values between 2000-2000 j/kg and lifted indices approaching -6.

Showers and storms were developing rapidly over South Central Alabama, back into Central Mississippi. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Macon County, for a storm that is near Tuskegee.

Showers were trying to develop over Sumter, Greene and Hale Counties in West Central Alabama, and are doing a little better across Perry, Bibb and Chilton Counties.

In Mississippi, heavier storms were lined from Lousville to Oxford approaching the Starkville area. This activity is near a weakening trough over Mississippi.

Showers and storms will build into and increase in coverage over Alabama this afternoon. Be alert to dark threatening skies that signal developing storms and be prepared for deadly lightning, gusty winds and heavy rains.
