Showers and Storms Increasing

That big band of rain and storms continues pushing to the north over North Alabama early this afternoon. The leading edge now extends from the Shoals to Cullman…and it has built further to the southeast into northeastern Jefferson, southern St. Clair and northern Shelby/Talladega Counties.

A thunderstorm is in progress in Northeast Birmingham and the Trussville area. Lots of lightning all along that line….from the Northwest Corner of the state to Vincent in Shelby County.

To the south, showers were forming over parts of Chilton and Perry Counties, poise to enter Bibb County. Those will likely grow into storms.

A few showers were over Pickens and northern Greene Counties in West Alabama as well.

Further south…a large area of rain and storms had reached as far north of Monroeville, Evergreen and Andalusia. This area was pushing north at a little faster than 20 mph. If it holds together, we will deal with it in Central Alabama later this afternoon and evening.
