Storms Increasing, Getting Stronger

Scattered storms have developed across the northern half of Alabama this afternoon.

One lane of them extends from Dekalb over to Cullman and into Fayette, Lamar and northern Tuscaloosa Counties.

Another extends from extreme southern Cherokee through Caloun and Cleburne into Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties …into extreme southern Jefferson, Bibb, Perry and Hale Counties.

The storms is Talldega County are reportedly producing a good bit of hail.

Another strong storm is over North Alabama’s Madison County, where a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect.

Other severe thunderstorm warnings are up for eastern Marshall and SW DeKalb Counties and northeastern DeKalb County.

Everything is drifting south southwest.

Storms will continue to grow stronger through the afternoon hours and several will become severe with a threat of hail and damaging winds. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. CDT for the northeastern quarter of Alabama.
