THIS AFTERNOON: Showers continue to move over the northern third of the state in response to a strong disturbance moving through Tennessee. Due to the very cold air aloft, we are getting reports of some hail in the heavier showers across Marshall, DeKalb and Cherokee Counties up in Northeast Alabama. All of these showers will end this evening, and the sky will clear quickly in the wake of the wave. Tonight will be cool with a low in the 39 to 43 degree range for most spots early tomorrow. Some of the normally colder spots could very well reach the mid 30s, and we might even hear of a little frost in those spots.

TOMORROW AND THURSDAY: Lots of sunshine both days with a warming trend. The high will be in the low 70s tomorrow, and we will be close to 80 on Thursday.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: The 12Z GFS confirms the idea the greatest risk of severe weather, heavy rain, and flooding will be just west and north of here. Places like Jackson, Memphis, Little Rock, and Nashville could very well be dealing with three days of very active weather, and potential for over 5 inches of rain in spots by Sunday night. Here in Alabama, the most organized showers and storms will be over the northwest counties of the state; elsewhere we will mention the chance of a few scattered showers and storms, but no wash-out. There will be some sun at times, and the weekend will be warm and breezy with a high in the mid 80s. Keep in mind this is Tuesday, so things could change before we get to the weekend, so keep an eye on the forecast if you have something planned outdoors.

The latest GFS does bring the batch of rain and storms into Alabama Monday of next week, followed by a drying trend on Tuesday and Wednesday. Watch the Weather Xtreme video for details.
