That long line of thunderstorms that we have been watching all night has not weakened as rapidly and as much as we anticipated. In fact they may be a bit stronger but they are actually going through cycles.

At 3:50 am. the line of storms extended from the Central Tennessee Valley southward through East Winston County and NW Walker County to just west of the Tuscaloosa area and on down to Livingston.

The line of storms may be moving a bit faster than earlier.

Lightning has actually increased a bit during the last hour.

The storms will reach the Tuscaloosa-Northport area soon and to Birmingham between 4 and 5 am. Look for strong gusty winds, downpours of rain and lots of lightning.

They storms seem to be staying short of severe.

The Storm Prediction Center shifted the “slight risk” area for today into Georgia and the Carolinas.
