Alabama Weather Update – 9:45 p.m.
Our line of thunderstorms continues progressing across northern Mississippi tonight. It has advanced as far east as a line from Holly Springs to Oxford to west of Greenwood to west of Vicksburg.
The overall intensity of the storms has dropped in the past hour.
There is a severe thunderstorm warning along the Mississippi/Tennessee border to the northwest of Corinth, MS, but the strongest storms appear to be lifting into Tennessee.
These storms will reach Northwest Alabama after midnight and progress across the state through the night. I would expect a continued gradual weakening trend.
A severe thunderstorm watch continues for Northwest Alabama until 1 a.m. With the intensities lessening, it’s debatable about whether the watch will be extended east and south. In any case, there could be a couple of warnings overnight, so keep those Weatheradios on just in case.
Check back through the night with the blog and we will keep you updated.
