An internet outage knocked out the blog about 4 seconds after the severe thunderstorm watch came out. Sorry for the inconvenience…

The SPC has issued a new severe thunderstorm watch for Northwest Alabama back into northern Mississippi and western Tennessee.

The storms are expected to weaken as they move eastward overnight. The best chances for any severe weather should remain west of I-65, although an isolated storm is still possible through the overnight hours even east of I-65.

The line will reach Northwest Alabama between midnight and 1 a.m. It should reach Pickens County around 2-3 a.m. Tuscaloosa should see storms between 4-5 a.m., and Birmingham shortly thereafter.

We will be monitoring the storms throughout the night.
