Don’t Put Your Coat Away Yet !

Another nice day on tap for Central Alabama with some clouds increasing by afternoon. But don’t put away those winter coats just yet because more cold weather is coming.

Today will be a wonderful Saturday with highs again reaching the lower 70s. We will see some clouds this afternoon ahead of the next storm system which is bringing another round of winter weather to parts of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. In fact, some places out there will see 4 to 8 inches of snow. Clouds really thicken this evening with rain possible after midnight.

Sunday will seem like a raw day after yesterday and today with a brisk north wind, clouds, some rain, and temperatures holding in the 50s. Rainfall amounts with this system should fall around a half inch with some spots potentially receiving up to one inch. Strongest storms should be held to the Gulf coast area and into the Gulf.

The upper closed low, a cold core system, will slowly head out Tuesday with an end to the rain and a return to milder temperatures though values will still be below where we ought to be for this time of year. Looks like a nice warm up at mid-week.

However, another short wave, much weaker than this one, though, will impact us by Friday with another round of scattered showers. It does not look like a major wet event with limited moisture and a much weaker short wave. That paves the way for a nice weekend.

Looking further afield, there seems to be no let up in the active weather pattern. Watch the video to see the whooper of a storm that might impact us around the first of April.
